Multi User Queries taking forever....

We have 10 users using access XP 2002, accessing an access database with
about 300,000 records. currently it is taking about 6-8 minutes per lookup on
the database which resides on a windows 2003 server with 2 gigs of Ram. Is
this normal or is there something I can do to speed the lookups? My systems

Word Mail-merge hangs Access and spikes CPU

Hello,
We have a multi-user Access 2003 db, with the tables and forms split.
This works fine for most things. However, when a user does a mail-merge
(from Access to Word), the Access database hangs up and the CPU
utilization spikes. The only way to free it is to reboot. All suggests
appreciated.
