updating form contents in multiuser environment
Tue, 06 Nov 2007 12:34:16 -0800
I have a little database that keeps tracks of bids at Charity auctions...
sometimes, when the organisation closes a couple of silent auction
tables at a time (we stagger the closings over a period of time) there
gets to be a data entry bottleneck..
I decided to try adding a second laptop to the system so t ...

Database Losing Connection
Fri, 2 Nov 2007 08:15:32 -0400
Has anyone else noticed Access FE file losing connection to the BE file for
no appearant reason? It seems to be happening fairly common in Access
(maybe once a day) as it's happened to me on numerous occassions, but yet,
other applications don't do that to me including our JDE connection via IBM

Users intermittently disconnected from shared mdb
Thu, 1 Nov 2007 11:15:55 -0000
I administer a small network with a couple of apps that both work with
shared mdb files on the server.
The server has just been replaced with a new Dell SBS 2003 R2 unit.
Previously there was no problem but now users are finding that these two
apps are complaining about being disconnected when they are left ...

Front End Links to Back End Tables
Wed, 31 Oct 2007 13:16:29 -0700
All,
I have created a monster. I guess it's a fairly stereotypical
situation wherein I inherited a collection of a dozen or so Excel
spreadsheets from a co-worker who got promoted out of the department.
I was given the assignment to do what the last guy did, only faster,
better, and on less pay.
Being the ...

In a workgroup environment there are 5 users of a mdb file of about 1GB.

start Access and open the file from the menu. They just lost the
convenience of clicking o ...

Front-end maintenance
Wed, 24 Oct 2007 12:55:51 -0400
Hi Folks - What's the best way to maintain a FE db? I found that if I keep
the "master" FE on the server, when I copy it to the user's machines, I must
re-link the tables.
My plan is to keep the "master" on my machine, and a copy of the master on
the server. I'll make the changes on my copy, then copy it t ...

Local area network permissions and Access databases - Desperate
Fri, 19 Oct 2007 06:14:01 -0700
Hello
I am a bit desperate here, so any comments are most welcome as this is a bit
of an open question, and I may need to contract an expert.
I have built an Access database which I copied to a shared drive on my
company's local area network. I then split the database and detached copies
of the front-e ...
