combining fields and other stuff

I have a field I would like to out on a form that combines some data from
fields in the database with some other stuff. AS an example let's say I have
a Critters Table with a Animal field. The animal filed has a value "Brown
Fox" in it.
I want A field that adds the words A Quick Brown Fox runs fast. The B ...

Seperate records

I have built a timeclock for my employees in Access. I can put the time
clocked in in the field, but when I open the form to clock them out they get
seperated as 2 different records. Is there any way to fix this and make them
1 record.

Each course will have an update frequency, e.g. never, 1 year, 2 years etc.
I know how to build a query which will show when a course is overdue for
update but how do I make it so that only the last time that course was taken
is shown as overdue.

why do I get this error "undefined function 'left' in expression

This function worked in 2003 but will not work in 2007. The help button
displays You entered an SQL expression that includes a Function procedure
name that cannot be recognized.
