How do you distribute backend?

Hi again everybody,
Running A2002 Dev.
In the A97 days, when creating a Package, you could include the Backend, and
stipulate that it should not be uninstalled, or overwritten upon
re-installation of the Package. Of course, from A2000, we've lost that
ability.
So how do you distribute you Backend?

ODBC issues with Access Runtime 2003

Has anyone run into this? Trying to distribute an app that uses ODBC to
connect to SQL Express. If I use full Access 2003, link the tables using
ODBC everything works fine. When I switch to the runtime ODBC doesn't work.
If I then re-open in full Access 2003 I have to relink the tables to get to

I would like to use microsoft access to create a simple project to import
