Can't render DAP in Design View or Page View

I can create a DAP in Design View - all works normally - but when I try to
re-open a DAP in Design View the design window contains only HTML, e.g.
"<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 ..." etc.
Same with the Page View window.
This also happens in my IE7 browser. When opening the page, only ...

I am trying to create a search option on the DAP ( access 2003) so that if a
person types in a word to search and it could be from any field the search
will bring up the record on the DAP and furthermore, if that word is in more
than one record then it should arrange all those records one after the other ...
