How do I get around the 255 char limit?

pulling in text back to the master spreadsheet. I know that excel has
a 255 character limit for linked cells. I noticed however that when I

Linked workbook data suddenly not found

Using Excel 97, Win 98/2000/XP. We have a number of linked workbooks that
reside on a win 2K server. To the best of my knowledge, they seemed to work
fine until Monday. Now suddenly, everytime one of the calling workbooks is

I ahve a spreadsheet, when I open it in Excel 2000 and click do not update
the sheet is fine. But when I do the same thing in Excell 2003 all the
figures are replaced with #Value. Is there a setting I need to change so
that the sheet will open in 2003 just as it does in 2000.
