prompt user text protected if tries to edit using vba code

I have protected parts of a document/paragraphs so that only
headers/footers and certain paragraph can be edited. I have used vba
code to turn off highlight and bookmarks of editable text so the
document looks all the same *but now want a message to appear if user
tries to edit protected region in word 2003*.

Can selected text be protected without protecting headers and footers in
a word template doc.
I have tried selecting text, protecting doc, and permitting other users
to edit unselected regions but cant edit headers/footers.

Format hyperlink as in vba

I am inserting a hyperlink into a letterheads that is based on text in a
user form. We are trying to format it to Arial 7 and 50%grey but it is
taking on the Hyperlink style format of TNR 12. The area it sits in has
a relevant bookmark range and the area is formatted as we want but the
link still changes as it go ...

vba code to turn off highlight on task pane

If word document template protected, editable regions are always
highlighted. I need to disable so that template opens without
highlighted areas or [ ] brackets around editable text; can only do
'manually' when taskpane selected and highlight editable region tick
box deselected.

mail merge causes word problem

I am running a mail merge from vb6 using Word 2003. My code produces the mail
merge documents like expected. When Word is opened though, on the left panel
it lists all the merge documents as recoverable documents. Why is this?
