problem copying Invoice form than changing to a different font

I've downloaded an Invoice form (in .doc format) but the downloaded version
has a font where all the letters appear unnaturally compressed. I've tried
to change it to a more readable font (select all, then changed font to
Arial, size to 10). Now the letters/font look good but the different lines

What are the zig zag lines under text?

Word produces some strange characters - can I find out ascii code for
them?

I found that if you have a word such as "John's" in WORD, and you
replace the apostrophe by 2 apostrophes (you have do this using Search/
Replace) you don't end up with 2 regular apostrophes. You get 2
characters that look like apostrophes, but they are slanted in
opposite directions. I think this is Microsof ...
