Difference between 2003 and 2007

Why does Word make me close all docs before I can delete a doc?

I had 4-5 documents open. I needed to open another document. I noticed
that I hadn't yet converted this one to 2007 format (.docx), so I did
a Save As and selected Word Document.
Then I tried to delete the old (.doc) version. Word wouldn't let me

How do you turn off those annoying on-screen widgets?

Word 2007. If I select a block of text I then cannot move it because
this irritating popup window appears with formatting commands. I can't
tell you how many times I've torn my hair out trying to figure out how
to drag select the text in a way that moves that annoying popup out of

Left, Center, and Right aligned text in same header

I know this must be possible, but I sure can't figure out how.
I want to create page headers with some text left-aligned,
some text centered, and some text right-aligned. For example,
the document title on the left, the page number in the center,
and the section heading in the right, like this:

When I click on View and then on 100%, I don't get 8 1/2" page shown
althought that is my document size. Even the ruler is not true inches.

Lost help files

My help files in WordXP and all other Office XP Applications keeps coming
up blank ie the help box is empty.
I uninstalled, rebooted, repaired, deleted including Application and Local,
but to no avail. Everything works including the help assistant, but the
help files they select are not visible.

Styleref Numbers?
