Creating fields linked to other fields?
Fri, 18 Jul 2008 12:21:22 -0400
Hi guys. Is it possible to create a simple text field where you type in, for
example, a person's name, and then create links to that field elsewhere in
the document so that same name appears in other spots?
I looked at the Cross Reference feature, but that only seems to work on
specific items (numbered list ...

Word 2003 Styles (cross post)
Thu, 17 Jul 2008 12:57:26 -0700 (PDT)
Hi All,
This is a cross post from Docmanagement group.
I am attempting to create a template with a certain set of styles for
a book (900+ pages) and I want to use the protect document feature to
disallow the introduction of unintentional styles.
Am I missing something or do I really have to create a style ...

Another thick black line dilemma
Thu, 10 Jul 2008 10:25:17 -0700 (PDT)
I am working on a 5 page document that for some inexplicable reason is
printing a single horizontal thick line on page two. This line is not
visible in normal view or in print preview, but it does show up on the
printed page. Maddening!! I did read Suzanne's article regarding
borders and tried those steps to no ...

Editing long list format & repeating list text as headings
Wed, 9 Jul 2008 22:13:00 -0700
I have two issues which are sort of interlinked so I will list them together.
The first is to do with numbered list formatting.
I have an outline numbered list in the following format:
1. Summary
(a) Division
(b) xxxx
The a, b, c continues past z and in word automatically becomes aa, bb, cc

Simplifying finding cross-refs: adding descriptive text at end of NOTEREF field harmless or not?
Sat, 5 Jul 2008 16:08:03 -0400
I need a convenient way to be able to find specific cross-references in a
large document (and to know what they are without having to follow the
link), but the most obvious way of searching the field codes (when in
displayed instead of field results) is meaningless with cross-references
unlike with bookmarks ...

Even worse ... Options resetting themselves
Sat, 21 Jun 2008 13:56:18 -0700
AVG reports no virus. But my Word XP options are resetting themselves back to defaults. So now, it's find/replace dialogs
defaulting to formats and words I used earlier, despite my commands to the contrary, and toolbars moving around.
Something is wrong.

?? No pdf.dot to even remove! Now what!
Fri, 20 Jun 2008 16:49:13 -0700
On the chance that my previous messages have become buried -- I'm using Windows XP & Adobe Acrobat writer v5. I do not
have the pdf.dot installed. (A copy resides inside the Acrobat folder, however). My toolbars have started moving around,
and my find/replace dialog box resets itself to look for words and feat ...
