Word freezes when working with pictures

When I'm making documents with many pictures, word suddenly stops working,
and when i open the programmaneger there is two versions running, and the
status for both is not responding??
I also have a problem running other programs when using word, the simply
don't start until i close word??

problems with spelling (O 2003)

Office 2003, I haveproblems with the spelling feature in Word and Outlook
(the programs I use the most). I select all text > click spelling (or select
the language first) > there is always a tick in the box "do not check
spelling" > I untick the box and click OK. Spelling does not indicate any
mistakes and ...

"Smart Tags" pretty dumb

Looked like a neat feature when I noticed the Smart Tag icon next to the
address in a Word document I received. "Wow, I thought, looks like I can
copy that address and paste it into my calendar instead of retyping it"!

Word 2003 documents do not retain formatting or customizations

I am using Microsoft WORD 2003, and I find that documents that I start, open,
or edit in that program do not retain the formatting or customizations that I
prefer to employ for them after I exit the program, but instead
reset--WITHOUT MY WANTING THEM TO!--to the defaults. What's wrong here?

Why don't ChemDraw Ole's appear in a PDF file made from Word?

I have a Word file that contains OLE's created with ChemDraw. When I convert
the Word file to a PDF, all of the OLE's disappear. This does not occur in an
equivalent WordPerfect file. With WordPerfect, all of the OLE's appear when I

I can't move my curser around my word documents

Since Microsoft updated my computer this morning and restarted it
automatically I have been unable to move my curser around any of my word
documents. The docs are fine and work on another computer and my mouse and
curser work fine on all other programs. When I close word down a message

I just learned something today while, again, not being able to bring up
Word's Help files.
According to the automatic help pane that tells you how to use Word help,
but you still can't open the Navigation Pane (full help that contains
looking through the index), one needs to lower his security for ActiveX
...

File Insert tries to do text conversion.

I am working in WORD 2003. When I try to insert a jpg in the middle of text
or even on a separate line WORD tries to convert the jpg. This has never
